(Fairfax ,Va.)- In a recent survey conducted by the National Pest Management Association (NPMA), a nationally representative sample of American homeowners sounded off about the pests that concern them most and pose the biggest threat to their health and safety during the summer. Mosquitoes came in on top followed by ants, ticks, wasps and hornets, while spiders round out the top five. The poll conducted in early June 2006, had a margin error of plus or minus 3.47 percent. June 8 (Fairfax, Va.) – A 2005 research study sponsored by the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) found that comparatively more homeowners living in the north central region of the United States mention mosquito problems than any other region. More than a quarter (26%) of these homeowners stated that they had experienced problems with them in the past year.
Although mosquitoes topped the list in this region, other areas also listed this pest as a key problem: 24% of Southern respondents had also experienced problems with mosquitoes in 2005. (Read more)
